The role of plant-based dietary supplements in gerontology. Benefits and dangers

This article seeks, using a practical and concrete approach, to provide examples of plant-based food supplements given in gerontology to maintain vitality or help treat pathologies. We will present the value of synergies (mainly in phytotherapy, but also aromatherapy or gemmotherapy) in food supplements, the benefits of galenic forms on the market, the risks of interactions, rules and regulations, and finally the list of plants allowed in the European Community.
