Evaluation of the efficacy of innovative collective intelligence tools to promote the “One Health” concept and pro-environmental actions: a narrative review
The “One Health” concept was developed in the 2000s. It defines a safe and equitable development space for humanity, based on the biophysical processes that regulate the planet’s stability. We outline three tools that can be used to raise awareness of the “One Health” concept among the general public and GPs in particular: 1) philosophical workshops, an educational practice based on the wisdom of peoples, which seeks to develop reflective, creative and critical thinking, using democratic discussions and narrative manuals within the educational framework of a philosophical research community; 2) Climate Fresk, an awareness-raising tool created in 2018 during which a group learns about the links between our human activities and their consequences, particularly on human health; 3) the serious game 2-Tonnes Set, an immersive workshop for imagining the future and acting together for the climate.
These awareness-raising tools continue to evolve, and are aimed at an ever-wider audience. In this narrative review, we raise the question of how to assess the real impact of these practices on awareness and behavior change among people who have taken these courses. Initial studies seem to indicate a low impact on behavior. Other tools will have to be invented to enable a genuine ecological and civic transition, i.e., taking action.
