Integrative health: Where do we stand twenty years later? Simply a trend or the future of health?
Although the term “integrative health care” may seem recent in France, it has been used in the literature in English-speaking countries since the 2000s. In the age of artificial intelligence, and with the rise of this integrative approach to health care, what must we watch out for to avoid it becoming a fad or an example of greenwashing, as we find in ecology? How do we escape the paradox of health care, where the burnout rate among caregivers raises questions? At what point do we address the well-being of health care personnel? And what human and financial resources are really in place to support this paradigm shift? The aim of this interview is to explore ways of imagining tomorrow’s health care by putting health care personnel/therapists/caregivers back at the center of the system, together with the patients. Nathalie Babouraj invites us to draw on existing experiences and research in the field of ecology, and in particular deep ecology, to “re-enchant” health care, and suggests co-writing a manifesto on the well-being of health care personnel.
