The symposium “OCTOBRE ROSE 2050: Agir sur les causes environnementales du cancer du sein” (OCTOBER ROSE 2050: Acting on the environmental causes of breast cancer) took place on October 24, 2024, at the Académie du climat (Paris)

October 2024 marks the thirtieth anniversary of Pink October, a month dedicated to breast cancer screening information and awareness campaigns. In June 2024, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) published the Global Cancer Observatory1 global data for the year 2022. France is one of the most affected countries, and has become the country with the highest incidence of breast cancer. Projections for 2050 are worrying, particularly for young women under forty-nine. This is why the Réseau Environnement Santé2 (RES), with the support of the Paris City Council and in partnership with Alliance Santé Planétaire3, has organized a symposium examining the environmental causes, in the broadest sense of the term, of breast cancer, giving the floor to researchers who are establishing the facts, as well as to associations who are calling for their integration into prevention policies, with proposals for individual and above all collective action.
