Hypnosis, meditation, and integrative health

Over the past two decades, neuroscientific research on hypnosis and meditation has advanced significantly, revealing notable similarities between the states of consciousness induced by these two techniques, as well as some differences. In both cases, the effects on the brain are substantial and have been validated by numerous research teams around the world. Hypnosis and meditation are effective for a range of conditions, both physical (for example, pain management) and psychological (such as anxiety and depression). Each practice can be used independently, but their combination mutually enhances their beneficial effects. Their inclusion within complementary approaches in integrative health is fully justified.
