Science Night 2025: When participatory research takes the stage with the DOLORA collective

On October 3, 2025, the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris hosted Science Night 2025. Among the highlights of the event, the DOLORA collective presented The Wheel of Misfortune, a stage performance born from a participatory research project dedicated to women’s chronic pain. Blending sharp humor with deep sensitivity, the play moved the audience while shedding light on a still largely unrecognized injustice: the invisibilization of women’s pain. By bringing together art, science, and civic engagement, the evening created a genuine space for dialogue between researchers and the public, showcasing a more human and collaborative vision of science—and offering a powerful illustration of what participatory research can be.
